Biography:
Matt Hardy initially gained prominence in WWE as a tag team competitor. He dominated WWE's tag team division with his younger brother Jeff Hardy as the risk-taking high-flying duo Hardy Boyz but has since become more determined and focused as a singles competitor. He has won many major championships with the exception of the world championship and has engaged in many classic battles and rivalries against some of the top competitors in WWE and has exchanged victories with top-class wrestlers on the WWE roster. He has competed as the "Version 1" with a "Mattitude" but now he is "The Man Who Will Not Die". He has been broken, betrayed and destroyed throughout his life but now he is determined to go through every obstacle in his way to reach his goal.

World Wrestling Federation / Entertainment (1994 - 2010)
Matt Hardy initially competed in small independent promotions with his younger brother Jeff Hardy. Matt debuted in World Wrestling Federation (WWF) on May 23, 1994 edition of Monday Night Raw, losing to Nikolai Volkoff in his first match. Hardy competed in WWF as a part-time wrestler with Jeff and the two competed as jobbers in both singles division and tag team division as Hardy Boyz for four years until they became full-time competitors in 1998. Hardy Boyz debuted as full-time wrestlers in WWF on September 27 edition of Sunday Night Heat, when they scored an upset victory against Kai En Tai members Shoichi Funaki and Men's Teioh. Hardy Boyz started their WWF career as babyfaces. 

On March 28, 1999 edition of Sunday Night Heat, Hardy Boyz participated in a Battle Royal to determine the #1 contenders for the WWF Tag Team Championship. D'Lo Brown and Test won the Battle Royal. Hardy Boyz started dominating WWF's tag team division by defeating rising tag teams in WWF. On May 17 edition of Raw is War, Hardy Boyz appointed Michael Hayes as their manager and began a rivalry with The Brood. At King of the Ring, Hardy Boyz made their pay-per-view debut, with a victory against Brood members Edge and Christian to determine the #1 contenders for the WWF Tag Team Championship. 

On July 5 (taped June 29) edition of Raw is War, Hardy Boyz got a big break by earning an upset victory against The Acolytes to win the WWF Tag Team Championship, after Jeff Hardy used Michael Hayes' cane on Bradshaw. At Fully Loaded, Hardy Boyz teamed with Michael Hayes to defend the championship against Acolytes in a Handicap match. Acolytes won the championship. Hardy Boyz' reign ended at 26 days. Hardy Boyz turned heels by dumping Michael Hayes as their manager and formed a group with Gangrel called New Brood. 

At SummerSlam, New Brood participated in a Tag Team Turmoil match. They were eliminated by Edge and Christian. Acolytes Protection Agency won the match. New Brood began a rivalry with Edge and Christian. They participated in a Terri Invitational Tournament, a series of matches in which the winning team would win the managerial services of Terri Runnels. On September 30 edition of SmackDown!, New Brood lost to Edge and Christian in the first match, with a score of 1-0. 

On October 4 edition of Raw is War, New Brood lost to Edge and Christian in the second match of the Terri Invitational Tournament, with a score of 2-0. On October 7 edition of SmackDown!, New Brood defeated Edge and Christian in the third match, a Texas Tornado match, with a score of 2-1. On October 11 edition of Raw is War, New Brood fought Edge and Christian to a double count-out in the fourth match. On October 14 edition of SmackDown!, New Brood defeated Edge and Christian in the fifth match, with a score of 2-2. At No Mercy, New Brood defeated Edge and Christian in a Ladder match to win the Terri Invitational Tournament. As a result, New Brood won the services of Terri Runnels as their manager and a reward of $100,000. 

New Brood received standing ovation for their impressive match against Edge and Christian and the match helped the two rising tag teams to establish themselves as the future stars in the tag team division on the WWF roster. New Brood dumped Gangrel as their manager and used Terri Runnels as their manager. They turned babyfaces and renamed themselves back to Hardy Boyz. They formed an alliance with Edge and Christian. At Survivor Series, Hardy Boyz, Edge and Christian competed against Holly Cousins and Too Cool in a Survivor Series match. Holly Cousins and Too Cool won the match. Hardcore Holly survived the match.

At Armageddon, Hardy Boyz participated in a Tag Team Battle Royal to determine the #1 contenders for the WWF Tag Team Championship. Hardy Boyz were eliminated by Acolytes Protection Agency for the win. Entering 2000, Hardy Boyz began a rivalry with Dudley Boyz, which culminated in an Elimination Tables match at Royal Rumble, which Hardy Boyz won. Hardy Boyz began their next rivalry against Edge and Christian, which culminated in a match between the two teams at No Way Out, which Edge and Christian won after Terri Runnels turned on Hardy Boyz.  At WrestleMania 2000, Hardy Boyz competed against Dudley Boyz and Edge and Christian in a Triangle Ladder match for the WWF Tag Team Championship. Edge and Christian won the match.

On April 24 edition of Raw is War, Matt Hardy won his first singles championship in WWE, as he defeated Crash Holly to win the WWF Hardcore Championship by using 24/7 rule after Jeff Hardy delivered a Swanton Bomb to Holly, right after Hardy Boyz lost a match to Holly Cousins. On April 27 (taped April 25) edition of SmackDown!, Matt defended the championship against Jeff, but Holly used the 24/7 rule to defeat Matt for the championship. Matt's reign ended at 1 day. At Backlash, Matt competed against Crash Holly, Hardcore Holly, Perry Saturn, Jeff Hardy and Tazz in a 6-man Hardcore match for the WWF Hardcore Championship. Crash retained the championship.

At Insurrextion, Hardy Boyz competed against Edge and Christian for the WWF Tag Team Championship. Edge and Christian retained the championship through intentional disqualification. On June 8 edition of SmackDown!, Matt Hardy lost to Eddie Guerrero in a qualification match for the King of the Ring tournament. At King of the Ring, Hardy Boyz competed against Edge and Christian, Too Cool and T & A in a Four Corners Elimination match for the WWF Tag Team Championship. Edge and Christian won. The following night, on June 26 edition of Raw is War, Hardy Boyz participated in a Tag Team Battle Royal match to determine the #1 contenders for the WWF Tag Team Championship. Acolytes Protection Agency won the Battle Royal.

Hardy Boyz formed an alliance with Lita called Team Xtreme and began a rivalry with Trish Stratus and T & A, which culminated in a six-person tag team match between the two teams at Fully Loaded, which Team Xtreme won. The three formed a breath-taking formidable and incredible high-flying team. Lita became the manager of Hardy Boyz. At SummerSlam, Hardy Boyz competed against Edge and Christian and Dudley Boyz in the first-ever Tables, Ladders and Chairs match for the WWF Tag Team Championship. Edge and Christian retained the championship.

Hardy Boyz began a rivalry with Edge and Christian for the WWF Tag Team Championship. At Unforgiven, Hardy Boyz defeated Edge and Christian in a Steel Cage match to win their second WWF Tag Team Championship. The following night, on September 25 edition of Raw is War, Hardy Boyz successfully defended the championship against Edge and Christian in a Ladder match after Lita interfered in the match. At No Mercy, Hardy Boyz lost the championship to Los Conquistadores, who were actually Edge and Christian in disguise. Hardy Boyz' reign ended at 28 days. The following night, on October 23 edition of Raw is War, Hardy Boyz disguised themselves as Los Conquistadores and defeated Edge and Christian to win their third WWF Tag Team Championship.

On November 6 edition of Raw is War, Hardy Boyz lost the WWF Tag Team Championship to Right to Censor members The Goodfather and Bull Buchanan after Steven Richards placed one championship belt on Goodfather while Jeff Hardy performed a flying move. At Survivor Series, Hardy Boyz and Dudley Boyz competed against The Goodfather, Bull Buchanan, Edge and Christian in a Survivor Series match. Dudley Boyz and Hardy Boyz won. Jeff Hardy survived the match. At Rebellion, Hardy Boyz unsuccessfully challenged Buchanan and Goodfather for the WWF Tag Team Championship after Val Venis delivered a Money Shot to Jeff.

Team Xtreme began a rivalry with The Radicalz. At Armageddon, Radicalz members Eddie Guerrero, Dean Malenko and Perry Saturn defeated Team Xtreme in an Elimination match. Dean Malenko survived the match. Hardy Boyz continued to wrestle Radicalz members in several matches throughout the rest of 2000 and early 2001. At Royal Rumble, Matt Hardy participated in his first Royal Rumble match as the #3 entrant. He lasted four minutes until he was eliminated by his brother Jeff Hardy as both men eliminated each other. Stone Cold Steve Austin won the 2001 Royal Rumble.

Matt started an affair with his valet Lita as he kissed her on February 19 edition of Raw is War. Two weeks later, on March 5 edition of Raw is War, Hardy Boyz defeated Dudley Boyz to win their fourth WWF Tag Team Championship after Christian attacked D-Von Dudley with a steel chair. Two weeks later, on March 19 edition of Raw is War, Hardy Boyz lost the championship to Edge and Christian after Rhyno debuted in WWF and delivered a Gore to Jeff Hardy. Hardy Boyz' reign ended at 14 days. At WrestleMania X-Seven, Hardy Boyz competed against Dudley Boyz and Edge and Christian in a Tables, Ladders and Chairs match for the WWF Tag Team Championship, a rematch from SummerSlam 2000. Edge and Christian won the championship.

On April 26 (taped April 24) edition of SmackDown!, Hardy defeated Eddie Guerrero to win the WWF European Championship after Lita delivered a Litacanrana to Guerrero. At Backlash, Hardy successfully defended the championship against Eddie Guerrero and Christian in a Triple Threat match. At Insurrextion, Hardy Boyz competed against Edge and Christian, Dudley Boyz and X-Factor in a Fatal Four-Way Elimination match. Edge and Christian won after Rhyno delivered a Gore to Bubba Ray Dudley. At Judgment Day, Hardy Boyz participated in a Tag Team Turmoil match to determine the #1 contenders for the WWF Tag Team Championship. They were eliminated by X-Factor. Chris Benoit and Chris Jericho won the match.

On June 4 edition of Raw is War, Matt Hardy lost to Jeff Hardy in a qualifying match for the King of the Ring tournament. Matt began competing as a singles competitor as he defended the WWF European Championship against various challengers. He began representing WWF in war against The Alliance, a group of wrestlers from World Championship Wrestling (WCW) and Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW). On August 27 edition of Raw is War, Hardy lost the WWF European Championship to Alliance member The Hurricane after Ivory attacked Hardy with a crowbar. Hardy's reign ended at 125 days.

At Unforgiven, Hardy Boyz competed against Dudley Boyz, The Hurricane and Lance Storm, and Big Show and Spike Dudley in a Fatal Four-Way Elimination match for the WWF Tag Team Championship. Dudley Boyz retained the championship. On October 8 edition of Raw is War, Hardy Boyz defeated Booker T and Test to win the WCW Tag Team Championship after Undertaker delivered a Last Ride to Booker. At No Mercy, Hardy Boyz successfully defended the championship against The Hurricane and Lance Storm. On October 25 (taped October 23) edition of SmackDown!, Hardy Boyz lost the championship to Dudley Boyz. Hardy Boyz' reign ended at 15 days.

On November 12 edition of Raw is War, Hardy Boyz defeated Booker T and Test to win their fifth WWF Tag Team Championship after Lita delivered a Litacanrana to Booker. At Survivor Series, Hardy Boyz competed against Dudley Boyz in a Title Unification Steel Cage match, with Hardy Boyz's WWF Tag Team Championship and Dudley Boyz's WCW Tag Team Championship on the line. Dudley Boyz won the match to unify both championships, thus disbanding the WCW Tag Team Championship.

Tensions began rising with Hardy Boyz as Matt was jealous of Jeff Hardy's association with Lita. This resulted in a rivalry between Matt and Jeff, which culminated in a match between the two at Vengeance, which Jeff won, with Lita as the special guest referee. The following night, on December 10 edition of Raw is War, Matt defeated Jeff and Lita in a Handicap match to end the rivalry. Entering 2002, Matt participated in the 2002 Royal Rumble match as the #9 entrant. He lasted four minutes until he was eliminated by Undertaker. Triple H won the Royal Rumble.

At No Way Out, Hardy Boyz participated in a Tag Team Turmoil match to determine the #1 contenders for the WWF Tag Team Championship. They were eliminated by Billy and Chuck. Acolytes Protection Agency won the match. At WrestleMania X8, Hardy Boyz competed against Billy and Chuck, Dudley Boyz and Acolytes Protection Agency in a Four Corners Elimination match for the WWF Tag Team Championship. Billy and Chuck retained the championship. On March 25 edition of Raw, the WWF roster was split into two brands Raw and SmackDown!, the top two television programs of WWF. Matt Hardy was drafted to the Raw brand. Coincidentally, both Jeff Hardy and Lita were also drafted to the Raw brand.

Raw (2002)
Hardy Boyz continued to team together on the Raw brand. They began a rivalry with newcomer Brock Lesnar. At Insurrextion, Hardy Boyz defeated Lesnar and Shawn Stasiak. At Judgment Day, Hardy Boyz lost to Lesnar and Paul Heyman. On August 12 edition of Raw, Matt Hardy turned on his brother Jeff Hardy by costing him a match against Rob Van Dam because Jeff was given the opportunity to compete against RVD instead of Matt. This ended Hardy Boyz and Matt moved to the SmackDown! brand to begin a singles career.

SmackDown! (2002 - 2003)
After moving to the SmackDown! brand, Hardy turned heel on September 19 edition of SmackDown!, as he cheated to defeat The Hurricane. On October 3 edition of SmackDown!, Hardy got an upset victory against Undertaker in a Falls Count Anywhere match after Brock Lesnar delivered a F5 to Undertaker. At Rebellion, Hardy lost to Booker T. In 2003, Hardy began calling himself Version 1 and referred his attitude as "Mattitude". He used to appear in a Windows Media Player-themed entrance video. He appointed Shannon Moore as his Mattitude Follower and began trying to lose his weight to become a cruiserweight.

At Royal Rumble, Hardy participated in the 2003 Royal Rumble match as the #13 entrant. He lasted twenty-seven minutes until he was eliminated by the eventual winner Brock Lesnar. At No Way Out, Hardy defeated Billy Kidman to win the WWE Cruiserweight Championship after assistance by Shannon Moore. On March 6 edition of SmackDown!, Hardy successfully defended the championship against Kidman in a rematch after another interference by Moore. At WrestleMania XIX, Hardy successfully defended the championship against Rey Mysterio. Shortly after, Crash Holly became Hardy and Moore's ally. On June 5 (taped June 3) edition of SmackDown!, Hardy lost the championship to Mysterio. Hardy's reign ended at 100 days.

On June 12 edition of SmackDown!, Hardy unsuccessfully challenged Rey Mysterio for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship. Hardy participated in a tournament for the newly created WWE United States Championship. He defeated Rikishi in the quarter-final round on June 26 edition of SmackDown!, and lost to Chris Benoit in the semi-final round on July 17 edition of SmackDown!. At Vengeance, Hardy participated in APA Invitational Bar Room Brawl. Bradshaw won the match. On October 9 edition of SmackDown!, Hardy began a rivalry with the rising star Zach Gowen, which culminated in a match between the two at No Mercy, which Gowen won. Hardy became inactive for a month until he moved to the Raw brand on November 17 edition of Raw.

Raw (2003 - 2005)
On November 17 edition of Raw, Hardy was introduced by Chris Jericho as the newest member of the Raw brand. Later that night, Hardy teamed with his girlfriend Lita to compete against Molly Holly and the Raw General Manager Eric Bischoff. Hardy dumped Lita for staying on the Raw brand instead of joining him on the SmackDown! brand. Hardy began costing Lita, her matches, which resulted in a brief rivalry between Christian and Hardy, which culminated in a match between the two on December 1 edition of Raw, which Hardy won after Molly Holly distracted Christian by attacking Lita. At Armageddon, Hardy was scheduled to compete against Maven but Maven was attacked by Batista, resulting in the match being cancelled.

On January 19, 2004 edition of Raw, Hardy and Christian lost to Booker T and Rob Van Dam in a qualification match for a Battle Royal to determine the #30 entrant in the Royal Rumble match. At Royal Rumble, Hardy participated in the 2004 Royal Rumble match as the #7 entrant. He lasted fourteen minutes until he was eliminated by Rene Dupree. Chris Benoit won the Royal Rumble. On April 19 edition of Raw, Hardy turned babyface by rescuing Lita from Kane. As a result, Hardy reunited with Lita and began a rivalry with Kane.

On June 14 edition of Raw, Hardy and Lita discovered through a maternity test that Lita was pregnant. Kane eventually revealed the fact that Lita was pregnant with his baby, not Hardy's baby. At Vengeance, Hardy defeated Kane in a No Disqualification match after distraction by Lita. On July 26 edition of Raw, Hardy participated in a Battle Royal to determine the #1 contender for the World Heavyweight Championship. He was eliminated by Kane. Randy Orton won the Battle Royal. At SummerSlam, Hardy lost to Kane in a Till Death Do Us Part match. As a result, Lita was forced to marry Kane.

On August 23 edition of Raw, Hardy tried to rescue Lita from Kane as the two were going to have their official wedding. However, Kane delivered a Chokeslam to Hardy off the stage, thus injuring Hardy's knee. In February 2005, Hardy discovered that Lita was having a real-life affair with Edge. He decided to confront Edge on an edition of Raw but the WWE management prevented him from ruining the show, which caused Hardy to make the relationship public. As a result, he was fired by WWE on April 11. However, the WWE fans started petitions and protests against WWE to re-sign Hardy.

He competed in Jersey All Pro Wrestling (JAPW) and Ring of Honor (ROH) until returning to WWE on July 11 edition of Raw to attack Edge and Lita. He began a rivalry with Edge and Lita as he showed up again for two consecutive editions of Raw. He developed an attitude of "The Man Who Will Not Die" despite being broken, battered and betrayed and determined to fulfill his goals.

On August 1 edition of Raw, the WWE Chairman Mr. McMahon signed Hardy to a new WWE contract. At SummerSlam, Hardy lost to Edge by referee stoppage. On August 29 edition of Raw, Hardy fought Edge to a no contest in a Street Fight. At Unforgiven, Hardy defeated Edge in a Steel Cage match. On October 3 edition of Raw, Hardy lost to Edge in a Loser Leaves Raw Ladder match, with Edge's Money in the Bank contract on the line. As a result of losing, Hardy was forced to leave the Raw brand and thus ended his rivalry against Edge. Hardy moved to the SmackDown! brand.

SmackDown! (2005 - 2008)
On October 21 edition of SmackDown!, Hardy joined the SmackDown! brand as its newest member by defeating Simon Dean. At Taboo Tuesday, Hardy was voted in along with Rey Mysterio to represent SmackDown! against Raw representatives Snitsky and Chris Masters in a tag team match. Mysterio and Hardy defeated Snitsky and Masters. Hardy began a rivalry with John "Bradshaw" Layfield. At Armageddon, Hardy lost to JBL. On December 30 edition of SmackDown!, Hardy defeated JBL in a rematch by count-out after The Boogeyman distracted JBL. The following week, on January 6, 2006 edition of SmackDown!, Hardy lost to JBL in a Falls Count Anywhere match to end the rivalry.

The following week, on January 13 edition of SmackDown!, Hardy participated in a Battle Royal for the vacated World Heavyweight Championship. He was eliminated by Mark Henry. Kurt Angle won the Battle Royal. At Royal Rumble, Hardy participated in the 2006 Royal Rumble match as the #23 entrant. He lasted seven minutes until he was eliminated by Viscera. Rey Mysterio won the Royal Rumble. At No Way Out, Hardy teamed with Tatanka to accept MNM's open challenge for a future WWE Tag Team Championship opportunity. Hardy and Tatanka defeated MNM. On February 24 edition of SmackDown!, Hardy and Tatanka unsuccessfully challenged MNM for the championship after Melina grabbed Hardy's leg.

The following week, on March 3 edition of SmackDown!, Hardy competed against MNM with Road Warrior Animal as his new mystery partner. Hardy and Animal lost to MNM, which resulted in Animal turning on Hardy by attacking his injured knee. On March 17 edition of SmackDown!, Hardy defeated Animal to qualify for the Money in the Bank Ladder match. At WrestleMania 22, Hardy competed against Rob Van Dam, Shelton Benjamin, Ric Flair, Bobby Lashley and Finlay in the 2006 Money in the Bank Ladder match. RVD won the match. On April 14 edition of SmackDown!, Hardy defeated Road Warrior Animal to end the rivalry. The following week, on April 21 edition of SmackDown!, Hardy participated in the 2006 King of the Ring Tournament. He lost to eventual winner Booker T after a distraction by Sharmell, in the quarter-final round.

Hardy began competing on Velocity as a mid-card wrestler and made few appearances on SmackDown!. At WWE vs ECW, Hardy represented WWE in a Battle Royal against wrestlers from Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW). Hardy was eliminated by Terry Funk and Justin Credible. Big Show won the Battle Royal. At The Great American Bash, Hardy replaced Super Crazy as Gregory Helms' opponent. Hardy lost to Helms. As a result, Hardy began a rivalry with Helms. On September 1 edition of SmackDown!, Hardy defeated Helms in a rematch. Two weeks later, on September 15 edition of SmackDown!, Hardy lost to Helms. The following week, on September 22 edition of SmackDown!, Hardy defeated Helms.

At No Mercy, Hardy defeated Gregory Helms in the state of North Carolina, the hometown of both wrestlers. On October 27 edition of SmackDown!, Hardy lost to Helms in a rematch. On November 17 edition of SmackDown!, Hardy defeated Helms to end the rivalry. On November 21 edition of ECW, Matt Hardy teamed with his younger brother Jeff Hardy to reunite Hardy Boyz as The Hardys for the first time in four years. Hardy Boyz defeated Full Blooded Italians. At Survivor Series, The Hardys, as part of D-Generation X's Team DX, consisting of CM Punk, competed against Rated-RKO's Team Rated-RKO, consisting of Gregory Helms, Johnny Nitro and Mike Knox. Team DX won. The entire Team DX survived the match.

The Hardys issued an open challenge to any tag team in the world, which was accepted by MNM. At December to Dismember, Hardy Boyz defeated MNM. At Armageddon, Hardys competed against Paul London and Brian Kendrick, MNM and William Regal and Dave Taylor in a Fatal Four-Way Ladder match for the WWE Tag Team Championship. London and Kendrick retained the championship. During the match, Mercury suffered a broken nose due to a ladder spot by Hardys, resulting in a rivalry between Matt and Mercury on SmackDown!. Entering 2007, Hardys defeated MNM at Royal Rumble. Later that night, Matt Hardy participated in the 2007 Royal Rumble match as the #4 entrant. He lasted eighteen minutes until he was eliminated by Randy Orton. Undertaker won the Royal Rumble.

At No Way Out, Chris Benoit and The Hardys defeated Montel Vontavious Porter and MNM in a six-man tag team match. On March 2 edition of SmackDown!, Matt Hardy defeated Joey Mercury to qualify for the Money in the Bank Ladder match. At WrestleMania 23, Hardy competed against Mr. Kennedy, Edge, Randy Orton, King Booker, Jeff Hardy, CM Punk and Finlay in the 2007 Money in the Bank Ladder match. Kennedy won the match. The following night, on April 2 edition of Raw, Hardys participated in a Battle Royal for the World Tag Team Championship, the previous WWF Tag Team Championship. Hardys last eliminated Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch to win the Battle Royal and their sixth World Tag Team Championship.

The Hardys successfully defended the World Tag Team Championship against Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch at Backlash and Judgment Day. Hardys eventually formed an alliance with Cade and Murdoch. At One Night Stand, Hardys successfully defended the championship against World's Greatest Tag Team in a Ladder match. The following night, on June 4 edition of Raw, Hardys lost the World Tag Team Championship to Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch. Hardys' reign ended at 63 days. The following week, on June 11 edition of Raw, Matt Hardy participated in the Draft Pick Battle Royal. He was on Team SmackDown!, consisting of William Regal, Chavo Guerrero, Mark Henry and Chris Masters. He was eliminated by Randy Orton for the win.

At Vengeance: Night of Champions, The Hardys unsuccessfully challenged Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch for the World Tag Team Championship. On July 20 edition of SmackDown!, Matt Hardy participated in a Battle Royal for the vacated World Heavyweight Championship. He was eliminated by the eventual winner The Great Khali. Hardy began a rivalry with Montel Vontavious Porter. At The Great American Bash, Hardy unsuccessfully challenged MVP for the WWE United States Championship. MVP and Hardy decided to participate in non-wrestling competitions, including an Arm Wrestling match on August 3 edition of SmackDown!, which Hardy won. Later that night, Hardy defeated MVP by count-out.

At Saturday Night's Main Event XXXV, Hardy was scheduled to compete against Montel Vontavious Porter in a Boxing match but MVP replaced himself with professional boxer Evander Holyfield. The match ended in a no contest when Holyfield knocked out MVP for guiding him. At SummerSlam, Hardy replaced himself with Stone Cold Steve Austin against MVP in a Beer Drinking Contest. On August 24 edition of SmackDown!, Hardy competed against MVP in a Basketball match to a no contest when Deuce 'n Domino attacked both men. The following week, on August 31 (taped August 28) edition of SmackDown!, MVP and Hardy defeated Deuce 'n Domino to win the WWE Tag Team Championship.

At Unforgiven, Montel Vontavious Porter and Hardy successfully defended the WWE Tag Team Championship against Deuce 'n Domino. On September 21 edition of SmackDown!, MVP and Hardy lost to Deuce 'n Domino. Two weeks later, on October 5 edition of SmackDown!, MVP and Hardy successfully defended the championship against Deuce 'n Domino in a rematch. At Cyber Sunday, Hardy was scheduled to compete against MVP in a match but the match could not occur as Hardy suffered a severe injury. On November 16 (taped November 13) edition of SmackDown!, MVP and Hardy lost the WWE Tag Team Championship to John Morrison and The Miz. MVP and Hardy unsuccessfully challenged Morrison and Miz for the championship in an immediate rematch. MVP proceeded to attack Hardy's injured knee.

At Survivor Series, Hardy was scheduled to compete in a Survivor Series match but he suffered an inflamed appendix and was out of action for four months. He returned to WWE on December 31 edition of Raw, where he was further injured by Randy Orton. In 2008, Hardy made his full-time return to WWE at WrestleMania XXIV, when he cost Montel Vontavious Porter, the victory in the 2008 Money in the Bank Ladder match. On April 21 edition of Raw, Hardy participated in the 2008 King of the Ring tournament. He lost to CM Punk in the quarter-final round.

At Backlash, Hardy defeated Montel Vontavious Porter to win the WWE United States Championship. On May 2 edition of SmackDown!, Hardy successfully defended the championship against MVP in a rematch. The following week, on May 9 edition of SmackDown!, Hardy defeated CM Punk to qualify for the Championship Chase. Later that night, Hardy participated in the Championship Chase Battle Royal to determine Undertaker's opponent for the World Heavyweight Championship. He was eliminated by Montel Vontavious Porter. On June 23 edition of Raw, Hardy was drafted to the ECW brand, taking the WWE United States Championship with himself to the Land of the Extreme.

ECW (2008 - 2009)
On June 23 edition of Raw, Hardy participated in the Draft Pick Battle Royal. He was on Team ECW, consisting of John Morrison, The Miz, Chavo Guerrero and Shelton Benjamin. Hardy was eliminated by Jeff Hardy. Edge won the Battle Royal. Matt Hardy began a rivalry with Chavo Guerrero, which culminated in a match between the two for Hardy's WWE United States Championship at Night of Champions, which Hardy won. At The Great American Bash, Hardy lost the championship to Shelton Benjamin.

Hardy started to rise as a main eventer in the Land of Extreme by pursuing the ECW Championship. At SummerSlam, Hardy competed against Mark Henry for the championship. Henry retained the championship through intentional disqualification. On August 19 edition of ECW, Hardy unsuccessfully challenged Henry for the championship in a rematch after Tony Atlas prevented Hardy from pinning Henry by pulling Hardy outside the ring. On August 26 edition of ECW, Hardy defeated John Morrison in a qualification match for Championship Scramble.

On August 31 edition of Raw, Hardy participated in a Battle Royal. He was eliminated by Mark Henry for the win. At Unforgiven, Hardy defeated Mark Henry, Chavo Guerrero, Finlay and The Miz in the first-ever Championship Scramble to win the ECW Championship, thus becoming the top star of the Land of the Extreme. Hardy successfully defended the championship against Mark Henry at No Mercy and Evan Bourne at Cyber Sunday. At Survivor Series, Hardy, as a part of Batista's Team Batista, consisting of CM Punk, Kofi Kingston and R-Truth, competed against Randy Orton's Team Orton, consisting of Shelton Benjamin, William Regal, Mark Henry and Cody Rhodes, in a Survivor Series match. Team Orton won. Orton and Rhodes survived the match.

Hardy began a rivalry with Vladimir Kozlov after Hardy fought Kozlov to a time limit draw as he prevented Kozlov from beating his brother Jeff Hardy's time on November 28 edition of SmackDown!, to earn a WWE Championship opportunity. At Armageddon, Matt lost to Kozlov. On January 13 (taped January 12) edition of ECW, Hardy lost the ECW Championship to Jack Swagger. Hardy's reign ended at 127 days. At Royal Rumble, Hardy unsuccessfully challenged Swagger for the championship.

Later that night, Hardy prevented Vickie Guerrero from interfering in his brother Jeff Hardy's WWE Championship defense against Edge. However, Matt turned heel by turning on Jeff as he attacked him with a steel chair and allowing Edge to pin Jeff for the championship. As a result, Matt began a rivalry with Jeff and moved to the SmackDown! brand.

SmackDown! (2009)
After moving to the SmackDown! brand, Matt Hardy began a rivalry with Jeff Hardy. On March 6 edition of SmackDown!, Matt lost to Montel Vontavious Porter in a qualification match for the Money in the Bank Ladder match. Later that night, Matt cost Jeff, a qualification match against Shelton Benjamin. At WrestleMania XXV, Matt defeated Jeff in an Extreme Rules match. On April 10 edition of SmackDown!, Matt defeated Jeff in a Stretcher match. On April 13 edition of Raw, Matt was drafted to the Raw brand.

Raw (2009)
After moving to the Raw brand, Matt continued his rivalry with Jeff Hardy. At Backlash, Matt lost to Jeff in an "I Quit" match. After the match, Matt injured his arm and began wearing a cast which he used to cheat during his matches. At Judgment Day, Matt cost Jeff, an opportunity against Edge for the World Heavyweight Championship. At Extreme Rules, Matt competed against Kofi Kingston, Montel Vontavious Porter and William Regal in a Fatal Four-Way match for the WWE United States Championship. Kingston retained the championship.

On June 15 edition of Raw, Hardy participated in a Battle Royal to determine the #1 contender for the WWE Championship. He was eliminated by Big Show. Triple H won the Battle Royal. On June 29 edition of Raw, Hardy was traded to the SmackDown! brand, as part of 15-wrestler trade initiated by the Raw Owner Donald Trump. It consisted of 5 wrestlers each being traded to one brand. Hardy suffered a tear in his abdominal muscle and was out of action for one month.

SmackDown! (2009 - 2010)
After moving to the SmackDown! brand, Hardy returned to WWE on August 7 edition of SmackDown! as the Special Outside Enforcer for his brother Jeff Hardy's World Heavyweight Championship match against CM Punk. Matt turned babyface by helping Jeff in defeating Punk. As a result, Matt ended his rivalry with Jeff and reunited The Hardys. The following week, on August 14 edition of SmackDown!, Hardys made their official reunion, as they teamed with John Morrison to defeat CM Punk and Hart Dynasty in a six-man tag team match.

On October 16 edition of SmackDown!, Matt Hardy lost to Eric Escobar in a qualification match for Team SmackDown! at Bragging Rights, after distraction by Vickie Guerrero. The following week, on October 23 edition of SmackDown!, Hardy, Finlay, R-Truth and Hart Dynasty defeated JTG, Dolph Ziggler, Drew McIntyre and Eric Escobar in a Handicap match to qualify for Team SmackDown! at Bragging Rights. At Bragging Rights, Hardy was on Chris Jericho and Kane's Team SmackDown!, consisting of Finlay, R-Truth and Hart Dynasty, against D-Generation X's Team Raw, consisting of Mark Henry, Jack Swagger, Kofi Kingston and Cody Rhodes in a fourteen-man tag team match. Team SmackDown! won.

At Survivor Series, Hardy was on John Morrison's Team Morrison, consisting of Shelton Benjamin, Finlay and Evan Bourne, against The Miz's Team Miz, consisting of Jack Swagger, Dolph Ziggler, Sheamus and Drew McIntyre, in a Survivor Series match. Team Miz won. Miz, Sheamus and McIntyre survived the match. At Tribute to the Troops, Hardy and Finlay lost to Drew McIntyre and Dolph Ziggler. On December 29 edition of ECW, Hardy defeated Finlay in a qualification match for ECW Homecoming. Two weeks later, on January 12 edition of ECW, Hardy participated in the ECW Homecoming Battle Royal to determine the #1 contender for the ECW Championship. Hardy was eliminated by the eventual winner Ezekiel Jackson.

At Royal Rumble, Hardy participated in the 2010 Royal Rumble match as the #17 entrant. He lasted twenty seconds until he was eliminated by Kane. On February 5 edition of SmackDown!, Hardy lost to Chris Jericho in a qualification match for the SmackDown! Elimination Chamber. Following the loss, Hardy formed a short-lived tag team with The Great Khali and began an affair with Maria until Maria left WWE. On February 23, Hardy became the WWE Pro of Rookie Justin Gabriel on WWE's new reality show WWE NXT. On March 5 edition of SmackDown!, Hardy defeated Drew McIntyre to qualify for the Money in the Bank Ladder match.

At WrestleMania XXVI, Hardy competed against Jack Swagger, Drew McIntyre, Kane, Christian, Montel Vontavious Porter, Shelton Benjamin, Kofi Kingston, Evan Bourne and Dolph Ziggler in the 2010 Money in the Bank Ladder match. Swagger won the match. Hardy began a rivalry with Drew McIntyre after McIntyre delivered a Future Shock to Hardy on April 2 edition of SmackDown!, even before their match started. McIntyre injured Hardy during the vicious rivalry.

At Over the Limit, Hardy delivered a Twist of Fate to Drew McIntyre after McIntyre lost the WWE Intercontinental Championship to Kofi Kingston. On May 28 edition of SmackDown!, McIntyre got Hardy suspended from SmackDown! through a letter by Mr. McMahon. On June 7 edition of Raw, Hardy defeated McIntyre as he was suspended only from SmackDown!. On June 11 edition of SmackDown!, McIntyre got Hardy suspended from all WWE programming through his association with Mr. McMahon. At Fatal 4-Way, Hardy cost McIntyre, an opportunity for the WWE Intercontinental Championship against Kofi Kingston. On June 25 edition of SmackDown!, Hardy was reinstated to the SmackDown! roster by the SmackDown! General Manager Theodore Long.

At Money in the Bank, Hardy competed against Kane, Kofi Kingston, Big Show, Christian, Drew McIntyre, Cody Rhodes and Dolph Ziggler in the SmackDown! Money in the Bank Ladder match. Kane won the match. Hardy's career started to become a slump as he began a losing streak, in which he formed an alliance with Christian to feud with Drew McIntyre and Cody Rhodes. On September 10 edition of SmackDown!, Hardy competed in his last match in WWE, losing to Alberto Del Rio. On October 15, Hardy was released from his WWE contract, thus ending the great storied sixteen-year WWE tenure of "The Man Who Will Not Die".

Biography:
Shelton Benjamin is a very tough athletic competitor and has dominated the competition in WWE through his lengthy championship reigns and amazing battles against some of WWE's best competitors. Although his initial break came as a member of Team Angle that allowed Charlie Haas and himself to dominate SmackDown! brand's tag team division and proclaim themselves as World's Greatest Tag Team, Benjamin has not left any chance to prove himself as a singles star as well. He has defeated main event stars like Triple H and Chris Jericho on multiple occasions and has gained more success as a singles competitor, winning the WWE Intercontinental Championship three times and the WWE United States Championship one time.

World Wrestling Entertainment (2002 - 2010)
Shelton Benjamin debuted in World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) as a part-time wrestler while working in WWE's developmental territory Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW). On August 4, 2002 edition of Sunday Night Heat, Benjamin debuted in WWE and started his career as a babyface. In his first match, Benjamin got an upset victory against Justin Credible. Benjamin continued to compete on Sunday Night Heat and got impressive victories against some of Raw's mid-card superstars, which resulted in Benjamin becoming a full-time member of WWE's main roster. He joined the SmackDown! brand on December 26 edition of SmackDown!.

SmackDown! (2002 - 2004)
On December 26 edition of SmackDown!, Benjamin and Charlie Haas made their debut as they were introduced to Kurt Angle by Paul Heyman, thus starting their careers as heels. They became Angle's proteges and became known as Team Angle, with Angle mentoring the team as their captain. Entering 2003, Benjamin participated in his first Royal Rumble match as the #23 entrant. He lasted ten minutes until he was eliminated by the eventual winner Brock Lesnar. On February 6 (taped February 4) edition of SmackDown!, Team Angle defeated Los Guerreros to win the WWE Tag Team Championship to establish themselves as SmackDown's top tag team.

At No Way Out, the entire Team Angle, including Kurt Angle, lost to Brock Lesnar and Chris Benoit in a Handicap match. At WrestleMania XIX, Benjamin and Charlie Haas successfully defended the WWE Tag Team Championship against Los Guerreros and Chris Benoit and Rhyno in a Triple Threat match. This resulted in a rivalry between Team Angle and Los Guerreros for the championship. At Backlash, Team Angle successfully defended the championship against Los Guerreros. After the match, Los Guerreros stole the championship belts. On May 1 edition of SmackDown!, Los Guerreros returned the belts to Team Angle but stole Kurt Angle's Olympic gold medals.

At Judgment Day, Team Angle lost the WWE Tag Team Championship to Eddie Guerrero and Tajiri in a Ladder match. Team Angle's reign ended at 103 days. Team Angle unsuccessfully challenged Guerrero and Tajiri for the championship on May 22 and May 29 editions of SmackDown! as Guerrero used his "lie, cheat and steal" policy to get Team Angle disqualified. On June 12 edition of SmackDown!, Benjamin and Charlie Haas were fired from Team Angle by Kurt Angle. They began referring themselves to as World's Greatest Tag Team.

On July 3 (taped July 1) edition of SmackDown!, World's Greatest Tag Team defeated Eddie Guerrero and Tajiri to win their second WWE Tag Team Championship. At Vengeance, World's Greatest Tag Team successfully defended the championship against Rey Mysterio and Billy Kidman. On August 14 edition of SmackDown!, World's Greatest Tag Team successfully defended the championship against Mysterio and Kidman in a rematch. On September 18 (taped September 16) edition of SmackDown!, World's Greatest Tag Team lost the championship to Los Guerreros. World's Greatest Tag Team's reign ended at 77 days.

At Tribute to the Troops, World's Greatest Tag Team lost to The APA. On January 15 edition of SmackDown!, World's Greatest Tag Team defeated Basham Brothers to qualify for the Royal Rumble match. At Royal Rumble, Benjamin participated in the 2004 Royal Rumble match as the #18 entrant. He lasted thirty-seven seconds until he was eliminated by Randy Orton. On January 29 edition of SmackDown!, Benjamin participated in the SmackDown! Royal Rumble as the #4 entrant, to determine the #1 contender for the WWE Championship. World's Greatest Tag Team began a rivalry with The APA, which culminated in a match between the two teams at No Way Out, which World's Greatest Tag Team won. At WrestleMania XX, World's Greatest Tag Team competed against Rikishi and Scotty 2 Hotty, The APA and Basham Brothers in a Fatal Four-Way match for the WWE Tag Team Championship. Rikishi and Scotty won the match. On March 22 edition of Raw, Benjamin was drafted to the Raw brand, thus breaking up World's Greatest Tag Team and ending Benjamin's successful partnership with Charlie Haas.

Raw (2004 - 2007)
After moving to the Raw brand and beginning a singles career, Benjamin turned babyface. On March 29 edition of Raw, Benjamin got an upset victory over Triple H after a distraction by Chris Benoit and Ric Flair. Benjamin became an enemy of Evolution and engaged in many rivalries with Evolution. His first rivalry was against Ric Flair, which culminated in a match between the two at Backlash, which Benjamin won. At Bad Blood, Benjamin unsuccessfully challenged Randy Orton for the WWE Intercontinental Championship. On June 20 edition of Sunday Night Heat, Benjamin broke his hand during a match against Garrison Cade, which put the rising star out of action.

Benjamin returned to WWE on September 6 edition of Raw. At Taboo Tuesday, Benjamin was selected to compete against Chris Jericho for the WWE Intercontinental Championship through 37% of the fan vote. Benjamin defeated Jericho to win the WWE Intercontinental Championship, thus winning his first singles championship in WWE. On October 25 edition of Raw, Benjamin successfully defended the championship against Jericho. Benjamin became a successful champion as he successfully defended the championship against Christian at Survivor Series, and Christian's alter ego superhero gimmick Captain Charisma in a rematch on December 6 edition of Raw.

Entering 2005, Benjamin successfully defended the WWE Intercontinental Championship against Maven at New Year's Revolution. After the match, Maven demanded an immediate rematch and Benjamin defeated Maven for the second consecutive time to retain the championship. The following night, on January 10 edition of Raw, Benjamin defeated Maven to qualify for the Royal Rumble match. At Royal Rumble, Benjamin participated in the 2005 Royal Rumble match as the #9 entrant. He lasted fourteen minutes until he was eliminated by Edge. Batista won the Royal Rumble.

At WrestleMania 21, Benjamin competed against Edge, Chris Benoit, Chris Jericho, Kane and Christian in the first-ever Money in the Bank Ladder match. Edge won the match. At Backlash, Benjamin successfully defended the WWE Intercontinental Championship against Jericho. The following night, on May 2 edition of Raw, Benjamin participated in the Gold Rush Tournament to determine the #1 contender for the World Heavyweight Championship. He lost to Shawn Michaels in the quarter-final round.

On June 20 edition of Raw, Benjamin lost the WWE Intercontinental Championship to Carlito. Benjamin's reign ended at 244 days. At Vengeance, Benjamin unsuccessfully challenged Carlito for the championship. Carlito retained the championship against Benjamin through intentional count-out on July 11 edition of Raw, and through intentional disqualification on July 18 edition of Raw. Benjamin began his next rivalry with Kerwin White. At Unforgiven, Benjamin defeated White. On September 26 edition of Raw, Benjamin lost to White in a rematch. On October 16 edition of Sunday Night Heat, Benjamin defeated White by disqualification after White's caddy Nick Nemeth attacked Benjamin.

Benjamin began a losing streak. On December 12 edition of Raw, Benjamin lost to Carlito in a qualifying match for Elimination Chamber. At Tribute to the Troops, Benjamin lost to Snitsky. Entering 2006, Benjamin's losing streak finally ended when he defeated Viscera at New Year's Revolution after his Momma Benjamin hit Viscera with her loaded purse. However, Shelton turned heel due to his Momma's cheating tactics. The following night, on January 9 edition of Raw, Shelton defeated Val Venis to qualify for the Royal Rumble after assistance by Momma.

At Royal Rumble, Benjamin participated in the 2006 Royal Rumble match as the #28 entrant. He lasted six minutes until he was eliminated by Shawn Michaels. On February 6 edition of Raw, Benjamin participated in a Road To WrestleMania Tournament to determine the #1 contender for the WWE Championship. He lost to Big Show in the quarter-final round. After the match, his Momma Benjamin suffered a heart attack and collapsed. On February 20 edition of Raw, Shelton defeated Ric Flair to win his second WWE Intercontinental Championship after his Momma faked a heart attack and Shelton attacked Flair with her oxygen tank. The following week, on February 27 edition of Raw, Benjamin defeated Chavo Guerrero to qualify for Money in the Bank Ladder match after Randy Orton delivered a RKO to Guerrero.

At WrestleMania 22, Benjamin competed against Rob Van Dam, Ric Flair, Matt Hardy, Finlay and Bobby Lashley in the 2006 Money in the Bank Ladder match. RVD won the match. Now continuing to compete without his Momma, Shelton began a rivalry with RVD. At Backlash, Shelton lost the WWE Intercontinental Championship to RVD in a match that also had RVD's Money in the Bank contract on the line. Benjamin's reign ended at 69 days. On May 8 edition of Raw, Benjamin competed against Rob Van Dam, Carlito and Charlie Haas in a Fatal Four-Way match for the WWE Intercontinental Championship. RVD won the match.

On May 15 edition of Raw, Triple H, Benjamin and Chris Masters defeated John Cena and Rob Van Dam in a Texas Tornado Handicap match, with Cena's WWE Championship and RVD's WWE Intercontinental Championship on the line. Since Benjamin pinned RVD, he won his third WWE Intercontinental Championship. The following week, on May 22 edition of Raw, Benjamin successfully defended the championship against RVD by disqualification.

At WWE vs. ECW, Benjamin participated in a Battle Royal, representing Team WWE. He was eliminated by Kurt Angle. Big Show won, giving Team ECW, the victory. At Vengeance, Benjamin defended the WWE Intercontinental Championship against Carlito and Johnny Nitro in a Triple Threat match. Nitro won the championship. Benjamin's reign ended at 41 days. After losing the championship, Benjamin's career became a slump as he became involved in low-card matches, mainly on Sunday Night Heat.

On December 11 edition of Raw, Benjamin officially reunited World's Greatest Tag Team with Charlie Haas. The following week, on December 18 edition of Raw, Benjamin participated in a Battle Royal to determine the #1 contender for the WWE Championship. He was eliminated by D-Generation X. Edge won the Battle Royal. At Tribute to the Troops, Benjamin lost to CM Punk.

They were eliminated by Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch. Cryme Tyme won the match. At Royal Rumble, Benjamin participated in the 2007 Royal Rumble match as the #9 entrant. On March 19 edition of Raw, Benjamin participated in a Last Chance Battle Royal for a spot in the Money in the Bank Ladder match. He was eliminated by Ric Flair. Edge won the Battle Royal. World's Greatest Tag Team became mainstays on Sunday Night Heat. At One Night Stand, World's Greatest Tag Team unsuccessfully challenged The Hardys in a Ladder match for the World Tag Team Championship. On August 6 edition of Raw, Benjamin participated in a Battle Royal for the position of Raw General Manager. He was eliminated by Sandman. William Regal won the Battle Royal. Benjamin moved to ECW brand on November 20 edition of ECW, thus ending World's Greatest Tag Team.

ECW (2007 - 2008)
On November 20 edition of ECW, Benjamin moved to the ECW brand. His hair were dyed blonde and he began wearing golden costume. He began referring himself as "Gold Standard" and was introduced by Elijah Burke to ECW. Benjamin became more successful with his Gold Standard attitude and began an undefeated streak in the Land of Extreme. Entering 2008, Benjamin won a Battle Royal by last eliminating Kane, on January 22 edition of ECW. At Royal Rumble, Benjamin participated in the 2008 Royal Rumble match as the #17 entrant. He lasted seventeen seconds until he was eliminated by Shawn Michaels.

On January 29 edition of ECW, Benjamin lost to Kane by count-out, thus ending Benjamin's winning streak on ECW. On February 8 edition of SmackDown!, Benjamin defeated Kane in a rematch by count-out. On February 22 edition of SmackDown!, Benjamin defeated Jimmy Wang Yang to qualify for the Money in the Bank Ladder match. At WrestleMania XXIV, Benjamin competed against CM Punk, Chris Jericho, Montel Vontavious Porter, John Morrison, Mr. Kennedy and Carlito in the 2008 Money in the Bank Ladder match. Punk won the match.

Benjamin continued his dominance on ECW with a rivalry against the newcomer and undefeated Kofi Kingston. On May 20 edition of ECW, Benjamin defeated Kingston to end Kingston's undefeated streak. On June 23 edition of Raw, Benjamin, as a part of Team ECW, participated in a Draft Pick Battle Royal. He was eliminated by CM Punk. Edge won the Battle Royal. On June 24 edition of ECW, Benjamin lost to Kofi Kingston in an Extreme Rules match to end the rivalry. Benjamin was drafted to the SmackDown! brand in the Supplemental Draft on June 25.

SmackDown! (2008 - 2009)
After moving to the SmackDown! brand, Benjamin defeated Matt Hardy to win the WWE United States Championship, thus making a quick impact on the blue brand. At SummerSlam, Benjamin helped Montel Vontavious Porter in defeating Jeff Hardy. On August 22 edition of SmackDown!, Benjamin defeated Finlay to qualify for the SmackDown! Championship Scramble, after distraction by Mike Knox. At Unforgiven, Benjamin competed against Triple H, Jeff Hardy, Montel Vontavious Porter and The Brian Kendrick in the SmackDown! Championship Scramble for the WWE Championship. Triple H won the match.

Benjamin began a short-lived rivalry with R-Truth for the WWE United States Championship. At Survivor Series, Benjamin, as a part of Randy Orton's Team Orton, consisting of William Regal, Mark Henry and Cody Rhodes, competed against Batista's Team Batista, consisting of Matt Hardy, CM Punk, Kofi Kingston and R-Truth, in a Survivor Series match. Team Orton won. Orton and Rhodes survived the match. Benjamin began a short-lived rivalry with Hurricane Helms for the WWE United States Championship. In 2009, Benjamin had another short-lived rivalry, this time against Undertaker.

At Royal Rumble, Benjamin participated in the 2009 Royal Rumble match as the #20 entrant. He lasted four minutes until he was eliminated by Undertaker. On February 6 edition of SmackDown!, Benjamin participated in a Last Chance Battle Royal to qualify for the SmackDown! Elimination Chamber. Benjamin was eliminated by Chavo Guerrero. Vladimir Kozlov won the Battle Royal. On March 6 edition of SmackDown!, Benjamin defeated Jeff Hardy by disqualification to qualify for the Money in the Bank Ladder match after Matt Hardy intentionally punched Benjamin to get Jeff disqualified.

On March 20 (taped March 17) edition of SmackDown!, Benjamin lost the WWE United States Championship to Montel Vontavious Porter. Benjamin's reign ended at 240 days. On April 3 edition of SmackDown!, Benjamin unsuccessfully challenged MVP for the championship. At WrestleMania XXV, Benjamin competed against CM Punk, Montel Vontavious Porter, Kane, Mark Henry, Christian, Kofi Kingston and Finlay in the 2009 Money in the Bank Ladder match. Punk won the match.

Benjamin reformed World's Greatest Tag Team with Charlie Haas and began a rivalry with John Morrison. At Judgment Day, Benjamin lost to Morrison. On June 5 edition of SmackDown!, Benjamin lost to Morrison in a rematch. Benjamin began a regular losing streak. On June 29 edition of Raw, Benjamin was traded to the ECW brand, as part of 15-wrestler trade initiated by the Raw Owner Donald Trump. It consisted of 5 wrestlers each being traded to one brand. This permanently ended World's Greatest Tag Team.

ECW (2009 - 2010)
After moving to the ECW brand, Benjamin began feuding with wrestlers like Yoshi Tatsu, Zack Ryder and Sheamus. Benjamin turned babyface during his rivalry with Sheamus. On September 15 edition of ECW, Benjamin participated in a Battle Royal to determine the #1 contender for the ECW Championship. He was eliminated by Sheamus after having already eliminated Sheamus. Zack Ryder won the Battle Royal. On October 8 edition of ECW, Benjamin defeated Sheamus by disqualification. On October 22 edition of ECW, Benjamin lost to Sheamus in a rematch to end the rivalry.

At Survivor Series, Benjamin, as a part of John Morrison's Team Morrison, consisting of Matt Hardy, Finlay and Evan Bourne, competed against The Miz's Team Miz, consisting of Jack Swagger, Dolph Ziggler, Sheamus and Drew McIntyre, in a Survivor Series match. Team Miz won. Miz, McIntyre and Sheamus survived the match. At TLC, Benjamin unsuccessfully challenged Christian for the ECW Championship in a Ladder match. On January 5, 2010 edition of ECW, Benjamin defeated Chavo Guerrero to qualify for the ECW Homecoming. The following week, on January 12 edition of ECW, Benjamin participated in the ECW Homecoming Battle Royal to determine the #1 contender for the ECW Championship. He was eliminated while diving onto Vance Archer, thus eliminating both men. Ezekiel Jackson won the Battle Royal.

At Royal Rumble, Benjamin participated in the 2010 Royal Rumble match as the #20 entrant. He lasted forty-eight seconds until he was eliminated by John Cena. Edge won the Royal Rumble. Benjamin began a rivalry with Vance Archer. On February 2 edition of ECW, Archer defeated Benjamin. The following week, on February 9 edition of ECW, Benjamin defeated Archer in a No Count-out, No Disqualification match to end the rivalry. ECW brand was replaced by a new reality show WWE NXT on February 23. As a result, Benjamin moved to the SmackDown! brand.

SmackDown! (2010)
After moving to the SmackDown! brand, Benjamin defeated CM Punk on March 26 edition of SmackDown!, to qualify for the Money in the Bank Ladder match, after distraction by Rey Mysterio. At WrestleMania XXV, Benjamin competed against Jack Swagger, Drew McIntyre, Kane, Christian, Matt Hardy, Montel Vontavious Porter, Kofi Kingston, Evan Bourne and Dolph Ziggler in the 2010 Money in the Bank Ladder match. Swagger won the match. On April 22, Benjamin was shockingly released by WWE, thus ending the Gold Standard's eight-year tenure.

Biography:
Transforming himself from Johnny Nitro into his real name John Morrison, proved to be more successful for him as he became more smart and aggressive as well as more talented in the ring. Morrison dominated the Land of Extreme both as a singles competitor and as a tag team competitor with The Miz. Apart from his high-flying and surprising wrestling skills, he has also proved to be a great entertainer through his performances with his tag team partner The Miz on WWE.com's Dirt Sheet, that was the top web show of its time. Morrison's skills during the 2011 Royal Rumble match were amazing when he jumped on the security guardrail after being pushed from the apron by William Regal. Morrison crawled on the guardrail like Spider-Man and walked on it and then jumped on the steel ring steps and entered the ring to save himself from his elimination. He has done it all except winning the big one but has proved to be an excellent competitor.

ECW (2007 - 2009)
On July 17, 2007 edition of ECW, the ECW Champion Johnny Nitro changed his ring name to his real name John Morrison. He became smarter, tougher and unpredictable but was overconfident of his talent and skills. He changed his gimmick but continued to compete as a heel. Debuting a new entrance theme and a new style, Morrison successfully defended the ECW Championship against CM Punk at The Great American Bash. On July 24 edition of ECW, Morrison initiated the 15 Minutes of Fame match, a 15-minute time limit match, in which if a wrestler was able to defeat Morrison within 15 minutes or last 15 minutes, would earn an opportunity for the ECW Championship.

On August 7 edition of ECW, Morrison lost to rival CM Punk in a 15 Minutes of Fame match. At Saturday Night's Main Event XXXV, Morrison and Big Daddy V lost to Punk and The Boogeyman. At SummerSlam, Morrison successfully defended the ECW Championship against Punk by using cheating tactics. On September 4 (taped September 1) edition of ECW, Morrison lost the championship to Punk in a Last Chance match, which meant that Punk could not receive an opportunity for the ECW Championship as long as Morrison was the champion. Morrison's reign ended at 69 days. After losing the championship, Morrison was suspended by WWE for 30 days for violating WWE's Wellness Policy.

Morrison returned to WWE on October 9 edition of ECW. On November 16 (taped November 13) edition of ECW, Morrison and The Miz defeated Montel Vontavious Porter and Matt Hardy to win the WWE Tag Team Championship. Morrison and Miz were both rivals of each other but managed to team up to get the victory. At Survivor Series, Morrison competed against CM Punk and The Miz in a Triple Threat match for the ECW Championship. Punk won the match. Morrison and Miz established themselves as a top tag team by retaining the WWE Tag Team Championship against several tag teams on SmackDown! and ECW.

Entering 2008, Morrison participated in a Battle Royal on January 22 edition of ECW. He was eliminated by Kane. Shelton Benjamin won the Battle Royal. At Royal Rumble, Morrison participated in his first Royal Rumble match under his real name as the #6 entrant. He lasted twenty-nine minutes until he was eliminated by Kane. In February 2008, Morrison and The Miz started a live webshow on WWE.com called The Dirt Sheet, in which they sat in a Hollywood-based set and mocked WWE wrestlers and tag teams through different get-ups and mannerisms. On March 14 edition of SmackDown!, Morrison defeated Miz to qualify for the Money in the Bank Ladder match. At WrestleMania XXIV, Morrison competed against CM Punk, Chris Jericho, Montel Vontavious Porter, Shelton Benjamin, Carlito and Mr. Kennedy in the 2008 Money in the Bank Ladder match. Punk won the match.

On May 9 edition of SmackDown!, Morrison lost to Batista in a Championship Chase qualification match. At Judgment Day, Morrison and The Miz successfully defended the WWE Tag Team Championship against Kane and CM Punk. At One Night Stand, Morrison competed against Big Show, Tommy Dreamer, CM Punk and Chavo Guerrero in a Singapore Cane match to determine the #1 contender for the ECW Championship. Big Show won the match. On June 10 edition of ECW, Morrison and The Miz successfully defended the WWE Tag Team Championship against Kane and CM Punk in a rematch.

On June 23 edition of Raw, Morrison participated in a Draft Pick Battle Royal as a member of Team ECW, consisting of Matt Hardy, The Miz, Chavo Guerrero and Shelton Benjamin. He was eliminated by Batista. Edge won the Battle Royal. At Night of Champions, Morrison and Miz successfully defended the WWE Tag Team Championship against Finlay and Hornswoggle. On July 11 edition of SmackDown!, Morrison and Miz lost to Finlay and Hornswoggle. At The Great American Bash, Morrison and Miz defended the WWE Tag Team Championship against Finlay and Hornswoggle, Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder and Jesse and Festus in a Fatal Four-Way match. Hawkins and Ryder won the championship. Morrison and Miz's reign ended at 250 days.

On August 26 edition of ECW, Morrison lost to Matt Hardy in a Championship Scramble qualification match. On October 14 edition of ECW, Morrison lost to Finlay in a Cyber Sunday qualifying match. Morrison and The Miz began a rivalry with Cryme Tyme over their respective webshows Dirt Sheet and Word Up. At Cyber Sunday, Morrison and Miz defeated Cryme Tyme. At Survivor Series, Morrison and Miz were on John "Bradshaw" Layfield's Team JBL, consisting of Kane and Montel Vontavious Porter, against Shawn Michaels' Team HBK, consisting of Rey Mysterio, The Great Khali and Cryme Tyme, in a Survivor Series match. Team HBK won. Michaels, Mysterio and Khali survived the match.

On December 1 edition of Raw, Morrison participated in a tournament to determine the #1 contender for the WWE Intercontinental Championship. He defeated Finlay in the quarter-final round. The following week, on December 8 edition of Raw, Morrison lost to eventual winner CM Punk in the semi-final round. At December 13 house show, Morrison and The Miz defeated CM Punk and Kofi Kingston to win the World Tag Team Championship. At Tribute to the Troops, John "Bradshaw" Layfield, Morrison and The Miz lost to Jeff Hardy, CM Punk and R-Truth.

Entering 2009, Morrison participated in the 2009 Royal Rumble match as the #2 entrant. He lasted sixteen minutes until he was eliminated by Triple H. Randy Orton went on to win the Royal Rumble. Morrison and The Miz began pursuing the affection of Bella Twins, which resulted in a rivalry against Carlito and Primo, which resulted in Brie Bella siding with Carlito and Primo and Nikki Bella siding with Morrison and Miz. At the pre-show of WrestleMania XXV, Morrison and Miz competed against Carlito and Primo for Carlito and Primo's WWE Tag Team Championship and Morrison and Miz's World Tag Team Championship in a Title Unification Lumberjack match. Carlito and Primo won to unify both championships. Morrison and Miz's reign ended at 113 days. On April 6 edition of Raw, Morrison and Miz unsuccessfully challenged Carlito and Primo for the Unified WWE Tag Team Championship in a Lumberjack match.

On April 13 edition of Raw, Morrison's partnership with The Miz ended when Morrison accidentally cost Miz, a match against Kofi Kingston, which resulted in Miz being drafted to the Raw brand, thus separating the two. However, Miz broke up their friendship by attacking Morrison. As a result, Morrison turned babyface. On April 15, Morrison was drafted to the SmackDown! brand in the Supplemental Draft.

SmackDown! (2009 - 2010)
After moving to the SmackDown! brand, Morrison started feuding with Shelton Benjamin. At Judgment Day, Morrison defeated Benjamin. On June 5 edition of SmackDown!, Morrison defeated Benjamin in a rematch. Morrison formed an alliance with Matt Hardy for a brief rivalry against Hart Dynasty. On September 4 (taped September 1) edition of SmackDown!, Morrison defeated Rey Mysterio to win the WWE Intercontinental Championship, thus finding his first success since breaking away from The Miz. After winning the championship, Morrison began a rivalry with Dolph Ziggler. Morrison successfully defended the championship against Ziggler at Hell in a Cell, and on October 9 edition of SmackDown!.

Morrison began a rivalry with former tag team partner The Miz. At Bragging Rights, Morrison represented SmackDown! against Miz, who represented Raw, in a Champion vs. Champion match. Miz won the match. At Survivor Series, Morrison captained Team Morrison, consisting of Matt Hardy, Shelton Benjamin, Finlay and Evan Bourne, against Miz's Team Miz, consisting of Jack Swagger, Dolph Ziggler, Drew McIntyre and Sheamus, in a Survivor Series match. Team Miz won. Miz, McIntyre and Sheamus survived the match.

At TLC, Morrison lost the WWE Intercontinental Championship to Drew McIntyre. Morrison's reign ended at 103 days. At Tribute to the Troops, Morrison lost to The Miz in a Champion vs. Champion match. On January 1, 2010 edition of SmackDown!, Morrison unsuccessfully challenged McIntyre for the championship by disqualification. On January 29 edition of SmackDown!, McIntyre defeated Morrison in a No Count-outs, No Disqualification match to retain the championship.

At Royal Rumble, Morrison participated in the 2010 Royal Rumble match as the #11 entrant. He lasted eleven minutes until he was eliminated by Shawn Michaels. Edge won the Royal Rumble. On February 5 edition of SmackDown!, Morrison defeated Drew McIntyre and Kane in a Triple Threat No Disqualification match to qualify for the SmackDown! Elimination Chamber. At Elimination Chamber, Morrison competed against Undertaker, Chris Jericho, Rey Mysterio, CM Punk and R-Truth in the SmackDown! Elimination Chamber. Morrison was eliminated by Undertaker. Jericho won the match after Shawn Michaels delivered Sweet Chin Music to Undertaker.
 
On February 26 edition of SmackDown!, Morrison competed against R-Truth and Dolph Ziggler in a Triple Threat match to qualify for the Money in the Bank Ladder match. Ziggler won the match. After failing to qualify, Morrison formed a tag team with Truth. At WrestleMania XXVI, Morrison and Truth unsuccessfully challenged Show-Miz for the Unified WWE Tag Team Championship. At Extreme Rules, Morrison and Truth competed in a Gauntlet match to determine the #1 contenders for the championship. Morrison and Truth were disqualified against Show-Miz. Hart Dynasty won the match. The following night, on April 26 edition of Raw, Morrison was drafted to the Raw brand.

Raw (2010 - 2011)
Morrison continued to team with R-Truth after joining the Raw brand but on a few occasions and mainly competed as a singles competitor. Morrison became the WWE Pro of Eli Cottonwood for WWE's reality television program WWE NXT Season Two on June 1 edition of NXT. On July 13 edition of NXT, Morrison participated in a Battle Royal pitting WWE NXT Pros and Rookies against The Nexus. Morrison was eliminated by Justin Gabriel. Nexus won the Battle Royal. At Money in the Bank, Morrison competed against The Miz, Edge, Chris Jericho, Randy Orton, Mark Henry, Ted DiBiase and Evan Bourne in Raw Money in the Bank Ladder match. Miz won the match.

At SummerSlam, Morrison was on Team WWE, consisting of John Cena, Bret Hart, Edge, Chris Jericho, R-Truth and Daniel Bryan, against The Nexus, consisting of Wade Barrett, David Otunga, Justin Gabriel, Heath Slater, Darren Young, Skip Sheffield and Michael Tarver, in an Elimination match. Team WWE won. Cena survived the match. At Hell in a Cell, Morrison competed against Daniel Bryan and The Miz in a Triple Threat Submissions Count Anywhere match for the WWE United States Championship. Bryan retained the championship. Although it was Bryan who won the match, but it was Morrison, who stole the show as he leaped onto both Bryan and Miz from the top of Hell in a Cell set in the midst of the match.

On October 4 edition of Raw, Morrison participated in a Battle Royal to determine the #1 contender for the WWE Championship. Morrison eliminated himself by trying to attack Wade Barrett, who eventually won the Battle Royal. The following week on October 11 edition of Raw, Morrison defeated Tyson Kidd to qualify for Team Raw at Bragging Rights. On October 18 edition of Raw, Morrison participated in a Battle Royal. Morrison and Alberto Del Rio eliminated each other. At Bragging Rights, Morrison was on The Miz's Team Raw, consisting of CM Punk, Sheamus, Ezekiel Jackson, Santino Marella and R-Truth, against Big Show's Team SmackDown!, consisting of Edge, Rey Mysterio, Jack Swagger, Kofi Kingston, Tyler Reks and Alberto Del Rio, in an Elimination match. Team SmackDown! won the match. Edge and Mysterio survived the match.

Morrison began a rivalry with Sheamus. At Survivor Series, Morrison defeated Sheamus. The following night, on November 22 edition of Raw, Morrison defeated Tyson Kidd to qualify for the King of the Ring tournament. On November 29 edition of Raw, Morrison participated in the 2010 King of the Ring tournament. He defeated Cody Rhodes in the quarter-final round and Alberto Del Rio in the semi-final round after a distraction by Rey Mysterio. Morrison lost to Sheamus in the final round. On December 13 edition of Raw, Sheamus fought Morrison to a double disqualification. At TLC, Morrison defeated Sheamus in a Ladder match to become the #1 contender for the WWE Championship.

At Tribute to the Troops, Morrison participated in a Battle Royal. He was eliminated by Michael McGillicutty. Mark Henry won the Battle Royal. On January 3 edition of Raw, Morrison received his WWE Championship opportunity as he unsuccessfully challenged The Miz for the championship in a Falls Count Anywhere match. At Royal Rumble, Morrison participated in the 2011 Royal Rumble match as the #7 entrant. He lasted thirteen minutes until he was eliminated by CM Punk. Although Morrison did not win the match but he gave a show-stealing performance as he had been earlier thrown out by William Regal but he avoided elimination by jumping off the security barrier and then walking on it and bravely jumping back on the steel steps to re-enter the ring.

On January 31 edition of Raw, Morrison participated in Raw Rumble to determine the #1 contender for the WWE Championship as the #1 entrant. He lasted sixteen minutes until he was eliminated by Sheamus. At TLC, Morrison competed against John Cena, CM Punk, Sheamus, R-Truth and Randy Orton in the Raw Elimination Chamber to determine the #1 contender for the WWE Championship. Morrison was eliminated by Punk. Cena won the match. During that match, Morrison gave his third show-stealing performance in his WWE career, as he leapt onto Sheamus from the top of the Chamber and eliminated him.

At WrestleMania XXVII, Morrison, Trish Stratus and Snooki defeated Dolph Ziggler and Lay-Cool. The following night, on April 4 edition of Raw, Morrison and Stratus defeated Ziggler and Vickie Guerrero. On April 18 edition of Raw, Morrison defeated R-Truth to earn Truth's spot as the #1 contender for the WWE Championship, which resulted in Truth turning on Morrison by attacking him after the match and breaking up their friendship. At Extreme Rules, Morrison competed against The Miz and John Cena in a Triple Threat Steel Cage match for the championship but could not win due to Truth's interference. Cena won the match. Truth injured Morrison and put him out of action.

On July 25 edition of Raw, Morrison returned to WWE to avenge the recent attacks on him by R-Truth. At SummerSlam, Rey Mysterio, Morrison and Kofi Kingston defeated The Miz, R-Truth and Alberto Del Rio. At Night of Champions, Morrison competed against Dolph Ziggler, Jack Swagger and Alex Riley in a Fatal Four-Way match for the WWE United States Championship. Ziggler retained the championship. On September 26 edition of Raw, Morrison participated in a Battle Royal for the WWE Intercontinental Championship. He was eliminated by Ezekiel Jackson. Cody Rhodes won the Battle Royal to retain the championship. At Hell in a Cell, Morrison unsuccessfully challenged Rhodes for the championship.

On October 14 edition of SmackDown!, Morrison participated in a Battle Royal, with the winner earning a championship match of his choice. He was eliminated by Dolph Ziggler and Jack Swagger. Randy Orton won the Battle Royal. Morrison began a long losing streak that eventually ended on November 7 edition of Raw as Morrison defeated Ziggler. At Survivor Series, Morrison unsuccessfully challenged Ziggler for the WWE United States Championship. On November 28 edition of Raw, Morrison lost to The Miz in a Falls Count Anywhere match. It turned out to be Morrison's last WWE match as he was fired by the Raw General Manager John Laurinaitis.

Biography:
Supported by his girlfriend Melina, the charming and smart Johnny Nitro was a great competitor. Although he usually used cheating tactics to win his matches, he was a great competitor in the ring and could use unpredictable high-flying offense to his advantage. He dominated the tag team division on WWE's SmackDown! brand with Joey Mercury as MNM in 2005 and had excellent rivalries with some of Raw brand's best competitors in 2006. In 2007, Nitro dominated the Land of the Extreme by winning the ECW World Championship. During this time, Nitro's tenure came to an end as he rechristened himself as John Morrison.

World Wrestling Entertainment (2004 - 2007)
Raw (2004)
A former winner of Tough Enough III, John Hennigan competed in Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) throughout 2003 and made his World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) debut on March 1, 2004 edition of Raw as a heel under the ring name Johnny Blaze. He became a member of the Raw brand and was introduced as the Raw General Manager Eric Bischoff's assistant. The following week, on March 8 edition of Raw, his ring name was changed to Johnny Spade. On March 29 edition of Raw, his ring name was finalized as Johnny Nitro, based on World Championship Wrestling's (WCW) television program Monday Nitro. He used Monday Nitro's theme as his entrance theme.

Nitro continued to support Eric Bischoff in screwing Raw's babyface wrestlers. On June 7 edition of Raw, Nitro competed in his first match against Bischoff's mentally challenged nephew Eugene. Nitro lost to Eugene. As a result of losing, Nitro lost his job as Bischoff's apprentice and was fired.

SmackDown! (2005 - 2006)
After spending one more year in Ohio Valley Wrestling, Nitro finally made his debut as a WWE Superstar on April 14, 2005 edition of SmackDown!, with Joey Mercury and Melina as a group called MNM, with Mercury and Nitro as a tag team. MNM debuted during Carlito's interview segment Carlito's Cabana and attacked Carlito's guest Rey Mysterio, thus becoming heels. The following week, on April 21 (taped April 18) edition of SmackDown!, Mercury and Nitro pulled out a huge upset victory in their first match by defeating Eddie Guerrero and Rey Mysterio to win the WWE Tag Team Championship, thus establishing themselves as SmackDown's top tag team in their very first match.

At Judgment Day, MNM successfully defended the WWE Tag Team Championship against Hardcore Holly and Charlie Haas. On May 26 edition of SmackDown!, MNM retained the championship against Holly and Haas in a rematch through intentional disqualification. Later that night, Nitro participated in the Winner's Choice Battle Royal. He was eliminated by Basham Brothers. Kurt Angle won the Battle Royal. On June 2 edition of SmackDown!, MNM defeated Hardcore Holly and Charlie Haas in a 15-minute Iron Man match to retain the WWE Tag Team Championship. 

At The Great American Bash, MNM lost the WWE Tag Team Championship to Legion of Doom. MNM's reign ended at 97 days. As a result, MNM began a rivalry with Legion of Doom. On September 9 edition of SmackDown!, MNM unsuccessfully challenged Legion of Doom after Animal knocked Mercury with the championship belt as Melina distracted the referee. The following week, on September 16 edition of SmackDown!, Legion of Doom defeated MNM by disqualification to retain the championship. At No Mercy, the entire MNM lost to Legion of Doom and Christy Hemme. On October 28 (taped October 25) edition of SmackDown!, Joey Mercury and Nitro defeated Legion of Doom, William Regal and Paul Burchill and The Mexicools in a Fatal Four-Way match to win their second WWE Tag Team Championship after interference by The Dicks.

On December 16 (taped December 13) edition of SmackDown!, MNM lost the WWE Tag Team Championship to Batista and Rey Mysterio after Melina's interference backfired. MNM's reign ended at 49 days. At Armageddon, MNM defeated The Mexicools. On December 30 (taped December 27) edition of SmackDown!, MNM defeated Batista and Rey Mysterio to win their third WWE Tag Team Championship after Mark Henry delivered a World's Strongest Slam to Batista. On January 6, 2006 edition of SmackDown!, MNM successfully defended the championship against Batista and Mysterio in a Steel Cage match after Henry attacked Batista and Mysterio. 

On January 13 edition of SmackDown!, Nitro participated in a Battle Royal for the vacated World Heavyweight Championship. Nitro was eliminated by Rey Mysterio. Kurt Angle won the Battle Royal. At Royal Rumble, Nitro participated in his first Royal Rumble match as the #16 entrant. He lasted twenty-five minutes until he was eliminated by Shawn Michaels. Rey Mysterio went on to win the 2006 Royal Rumble. 

MNM became proud and cocky of their WWE Tag Team Championship reign and began issuing open challenges to tag teams to defeat them in non-title matches and earn a championship match. At No Way Out, MNM lost to Matt Hardy and Tatanka. On February 24 edition of SmackDown!, MNM successfully defended the championship against Hardy and Tatanka after Melina interfered. On March 24 edition of SmackDown!, Nitro participated in a Battle Royal to qualify for the Money in the Bank Ladder match. He was eliminated by Bobby Lashley for the victory.

On April 7 edition of SmackDown!, Paul London and Brian Kendrick defeated MNM to earn a WWE Tag Team Championship opportunity. At Judgment Day, MNM lost the championship to London and Kendrick after some miscue between Joey Mercury and Nitro. MNM's reign ended at 145 days. After the championship loss, Nitro and Melina turned on Mercury by blaming him for the loss and attacking him. This ended MNM. Later that night, Nitro and Melina misbehaved with the SmackDown! General Manager Theodore Long by shouting loudly and Long responded by firing them. As a result, Nitro and Melina moved to the Raw brand.

Raw (2006 - 2007)
After moving to the Raw brand, Nitro began competing as a singles competitor along with his girlfriend Melina. At Vengeance, Nitro defeated Shelton Benjamin and Carlito in a Triple Threat match to win the WWE Intercontinental Championship. At Saturday Night's Main Event XXXIII, Nitro and Melina lost to Carlito and Trish Stratus. On July 31 edition of Raw, Nitro successfully defended the WWE Intercontinental Championship against Shelton Benjamin and Carlito in a Triple Threat match.

On September 4 edition of Raw, Nitro began a rivalry with Jeff Hardy. At Unforgiven, Nitro successfully defended the WWE Intercontinental Championship against Hardy after assistance by Melina. On October 2 edition of Raw, Nitro lost the championship to Hardy in a rematch. Nitro's reign ended at 99 days. On October 16 edition of Raw, Nitro and Melina introduced rapper Kevin Federline in WWE, thus beginning a rivalry between John Cena and Federline. 

On November 6 edition of Raw, Nitro defeated Jeff Hardy in a No Disqualification match to win his second WWE Intercontinental Championship after a distraction by Melina, after the Raw General Manager Eric Bischoff restarted the match as Hardy had retained the championship by disqualification. The following week, on November 13 edition of Raw, Nitro lost the championship to Hardy. Nitro's reign ended at 7 days. On November 20 edition of Raw, Nitro unsuccessfully challenged Hardy in a Ladder match for the championship. At Survivor Series, Nitro was on Rated-RKO's Team Rated-RKO, consisting of Gregory Helms and Mike Knox, against D-Generation X's Team DX, consisting of CM Punk and The Hardys, in a Survivor Series match. Team DX won. The entire Team DX survived the match.

On November 27 edition of Raw, Nitro and Melina reunited with Joey Mercury to reform MNM and began feuding with The Hardys. At December to Dismember, MNM lost to Hardys. At Armageddon, MNM competed against Paul London and Brian Kendrick, The Hardys and William Regal and Dave Taylor in a Fatal Four-Way Ladder match for the WWE Tag Team Championship. London and Kendrick retained the championship. During the match, Joey Mercury's face was injured when a ladder thrown by Jeff Hardy collided in his face. On December 18 edition of Raw, Nitro participated in a Battle Royal to determine the #1 contender for the WWE Championship. He was eliminated by Shawn Michaels. Edge won the Battle Royal.

MNM's rivalry with The Hardys developed into an emotional rivalry. Entering 2007, Nitro unsuccessfully challenged Jeff Hardy for the WWE Intercontinental Championship in a Steel Cage match at New Year's Revolution. At Royal Rumble, MNM lost to Hardys. Later that night, Nitro participated in the 2007 Royal Rumble match as the #20 entrant. He lasted six minutes until he was eliminated by Chris Benoit. Undertaker went on to win the Royal Rumble. At No Way Out, MNM teamed with Montel Vontavious Porter in a losing effort against Chris Benoit and The Hardys.

On March 19 edition of Raw, Nitro participated in a Battle Royal to qualify for the Money in the Bank Ladder match. He was eliminated by Carlito. Edge won the Battle Royal. Melina began pursuing the WWE Women's Championship and Joey Mercury left WWE, thus breaking up MNM. Nitro began focusing on his career. On April 2 edition of Raw, Nitro teamed with The Miz as they participated in a Battle Royal for the World Tag Team Championship. They were eliminated by John Cena and Shawn Michaels. The Hardys won the Battle Royal. 

Nitro formed a tag team with Kenny Dykstra but the team went unsuccessful and Nitro's career went on a slump. On June 11 edition of Raw, Nitro participated in a Draft Pick Battle Royal. He was on Team Raw, consisting of Randy Orton, Viscera, Eugene and Kenny Dykstra. Nitro was eliminated by eventual winner Orton. Nitro was drafted to the ECW brand in the Supplemental Draft on June 17.

ECW (2007)
Nitro made a mark by entering the Land of the Extreme. At Vengeance: Night of Champions, Nitro replaced Chris Benoit to compete against CM Punk for the vacated ECW World Championship. Nitro defeated Punk to win the championship and become the new top star of ECW. On July 17 edition of ECW, Nitro's career took off when he changed his ring name to John Morrison and his gimmick had a great change as he was more improved and better. This marked the end of his Johnny Nitro gimmick and the beginning of John Morrison.
